Missional Musings

Reggie McNeal’s latest book, Missional Communities, was released this month and it is a welcome addition to his previous books for missional leaders and churches, The Present Future and Missional Renaissance. According to McNeal, “We are witnessing the rise of a new life form in the taxonomy of the North American church. Though it contains the DNA of the movement that Jesus founded, its expression is different from the institutional church that has developed over the centuries.”

Much of the book explores four models of the new missional community. Be sure to read the last chapter with his clarification of what he did and did not say for existing congregations.

If you are looking for one good website about thinking and being missional, check out “friend of missional.” Not only does the blog contain a number of missional resources including history, definitions, examples of missional churches, leading thought leaders and practitioners, and basic missional reading list, it has links to more than 50 leading missional blogs and websites.
